Breakdown of core features
GoToConnect provides a virtual answering service, similar to a contact center, without the cost and logistics of hiring a live answering service or receptionist working 24/7. The auto-attendant feature can be used to set up automatic greetings for callers and can be programmed to route calls directly to specific employees, departments, extension numbers, or phones (including a remote team or virtual office).
The Visual Dial Plan Editor also allows you to create an unlimited number of auto-attendants. The editor lets you customize greetings, tones, and call paths for forwarding inbound calls, and can be updated in real time. Lastly, users are able to establish pre-set rules for handling incoming calls with specific caller ID information to ensure top-level service when certain customers or suppliers call.
Video conferencing with screen-sharing
Video conferencing allows employees, customers, and others to connect face-to-face in real time, from anywhere around the world. A GoToConnect video conference call can take place from your IP desk phone, through a cloud-based app, on a mobile device, or in a video meeting space equipped with a room system. With GoToConnect, you can meet with hundreds of users in one call, and up to 25 participants can share their webcams simultaneously from any platform–Mac, PC, iOS, Android, and conference room equipment. The webcams are shown alongside screen-shared presentations or applications. GoToConnect also adjusts video and audio quality to account for every user’s current internet bandwidth to provide the clearest possible experience without blurry images and lagging audio.
Managing VoIP equipment through GoToConnect allows businesses to money in operating expenses and eliminate the time and effort required to maintain on-premise phone services. The system offers pay-as-you go options and is hosted in the cloud, so businesses can scale up or down as they need and add new numbers and extensions quickly. With GoToConnect, you can place VoIP calls from any regular phone or mobile device, as well as desktop and web apps, or even send voicemail directly to email. Teams can answer and manage calls from anywhere they work. The system’s management portal also gives you the insights and analytics to see how your employees are communicating and collaborating and identify pain points to streamline operations.
Unlimited extensions are standard as part of GoToMeeting, so companies are never charged extra for setting up additional lines. Each extension comes with a voicemail box and Find Me/Follow Me settings. Extensions can be set up for individual employees, even if two employees share the same desk phone, or as a general extension for departments like Sales or Billing. You can also have several different extensions ring the same landline or mobile phone, or add extra extensions for conference rooms. Choose an extension to call a ring group that includes all available agents in a certain department so that the caller is sure to speak to someone rather than be sent to voicemail.
