An overview of PeopleSoft vs. OneHR

PeopleSoft was acquired by Oracle in 2005. The HR features of this system include centralized and global storing of employee data, HR self-service tools, time reporting, workforce scheduling, and leave planning. PeopleSoft’s pricing plans tend to be on the high end with rates that vary depending on the number of users. Software upgrades or support requires additional payment. PeopleSoft is best for large corporations.

OneHR was designed by HR professionals for HR professionals. This software aims to simplify and digitize the HR management process for businesses of every size. OneHR’s key features include a holiday manager and calendar, unlimited document storage for employee records, absence and lateness management, employee performance management, reminders, and an employee directory. OneHR offers low-cost pricing plans and works for businesses of all sizes.

Comparing main features

PeopleSoft and OneHR have features for employee directory, employee self-service, and absence management.

Employee directory

PeopleSoft’s employee directory feature can be used for finding employee information and viewing their place within the org chart, including direct reports, peers, managers, dotted line reports, and matrix team members. A direct report shows a direct reporting relationship between a manager and an employee. A dotted-line report is usually a professional relationship between two employees. Matrix teams represent a group of employees that are on an organizational team or project. You can access the employee directory on desktop, tablet, and smartphone.

OneHR’s employee directory is a secure online database that contains all required employee information and records. While employee records are accessible to users, it’s important to note that you can only see records depending on your access level. You can customize your employee directory to be more suitable for your business needs and add custom sections and fields that you want to be displayed on the employee directory.

Employee self-service

PeopleSoft’s self-service feature lets you view and modify important employee information in the system. Users can view and edit any payroll-related information, benefit programs and enrollment, and update their personal information in the directory. Managers can also find relevant employee information and request or approve employee transfers and promotions.

The self-service feature from OneHR lets users manage their own personal data and banking details through this feature. Additionally, users can view their absence records and print PDF copies of their payslips. The self-service feature may be accessed on any device, including the OneHR mobile app.

Absence management

The absence management feature of PeopleSoft lets organizations plan and manage time off. This feature lets you analyze the impact of absences and identify absence trends. Employees and managers can enter, review, and approve absence requests using mobile devices or desktop computers. Employees can also use the self-service feature to enter their scheduled absences and schedule preferences.

OneHR’s absence management feature shows you who is absent or on leave within your organization—letting you track absence trends at a glance. Managers can easily spot employees with habitual absences or who arrive late to work. Employees can also input their scheduled absences into the systems Leave Calendar.

Integrations

Applications, systems, and any other tools can be integrated with PeopleSoft only through the PeopleSoft Integration Broker. PeopleSoft Integration Broker lets you provide web services to other internal PeopleSoft systems and external third-party integrations.

OneHR only integrates with one application: Microsoft Outlook. All the other integrations are done through OneHR’s open API.

The software for your HR needs

PeopleSoft and OneHR are both worth your consideration if you’re looking for an HR solution. Looking at the key differences in each system can help you decide which one might be better for you.

PeopleSoft has a lot of valuable features—and while this is an advantage, it can be daunting for some users. If you want a simpler but complete solution for your business, OneHR might be the better choice. However, if you want an all-in-one ERP solution, including capabilities for financial management, enterprise services automation, and supply and chain management, PeopleSoft has it all.
