Zenefits is an all in one HR platform. It eliminates admin overload and makes HR effortless. Zenefits transforms the way small businesses operate by bringing together all of your critical HR functions into a single fully integrated solution. Zenefits includes onboarding, health insurance, and payroll functions like PTO and 401k.

Zenefits integrates all your HR needs in an easy to use online dashboard. When you first open Zenefits you need to set up the platform by answering a few business related questions and preferences. Once you have done this, you are presented with a dashboard, where you can quickly manage different areas of the platform. The employees section of the platform helps simplify the recruiting and onboarding process for new and prospective hires. When screening candidates, there is a step by step process that allows you to request specific data from the employee, like tax information and payment information, electronically.

It also allows you to run a background check. When it’s time to make an offer to a candidate, you can input the new hire’s contact information, their work title, work location, and who they will report to. You then select an offer letter, which you can customize, or use one of Zenefits’ templates. From here, the employee receives an email where they register an account, and follows up with any requested information and e-signed documents. Next we will look at the PTO Tracking feature, which allows you to set up your vacation, sick time, and personal leave guidelines.

These features are pretty advanced compared to other platforms. You can choose to limit PTO or choose the unlimited option. If you choose limited PTO, you then need to choose how many days per year, and how PTO is accrued. It can be accrued by the payroll schedule or in a period of your own choosing. In addition, you can also choose tenure milestones, and add additional PTO based on those milestones. A vacation cap policy can be set, which includes options like carryover, a balance cap, or more commonly annual reset.

A nice feature, that isn’t always available in easy to use HR platforms, is reporting. Zenefits has a fully functional and customizable reporting platform. You can run some of Zenefits “pre-made” reports, or you can create your own custom reports. Additional features includes integrations with a large number of existing payroll platforms, or you can utilize Zenefits’ fully automated payroll system. Zenefits also offers a Time and Attendance feature that continues to evolve.

It’s built to help fully automate your payroll, and includes one step approvals, compliance with overtime laws, and syncing features. Zenefits offers variety benefits options, whether you need a quote on healthcare, or if you want to add your existing plans and 401k Packages to the platform, you can do all of this within Zenefits. Zenefits is free, although they have some features that are paid as you go. For example, if you would like to utilize their Payroll system, it was, at the time of this video, $25 per month, and based on whether you have a monthly or annual contract, you can pay either $6 or $4 per employee.

Although Zenefits is free, there are fees for utilizing the payroll and time tracking system. With Zenefits being a relatively new company, they have had some trouble updating their platform to newer standards, like when the US implemented the Affordable Care Act. In addition, there were some reports that their support staff were inexperienced In Summary, Zenefits is a great platform to simplify your hiring process, managing your payroll, and getting all the aspects of HR in one platform.
