Welcome to this week’s product spotlight, where we highlight different technology companies. This show is produced by TechnologyAdvice where we Educate, Advise, and connect buyers and sellers of business technology. In this week’s spotlight we have Mark Floisand who is the VP of Product Marketing at Sitecore. I asked him to describe sitecore in one sentence. This is what he had to say. Sitecore provides software to manage websites and digital experiences.
We help to deliver the most relevant content in context across all manner of channels and digital touchpoints. The company is 15 years old. We’ve been a leader in the Gartner quadrant for web content management for the past 6 years. This year we were ranked top for ability to execute. I followed up with a question about what differentiates his company from others. Key difference is we’ve always been doing this. Built from ground up to manage content and deliver in dynamics fashion.
Central is ability to know every customer. Gather all information of various touchpoints, join dots, get information in one place and have that automatically used across every digital channel people utilize. Instead of an amalgam of different software and data sets, Sitecore is one complete system that enables you to have one view of customer and consistently communicate across all channels. Next we talked about who his customers are. Ideal customer is typically mid-sized firms going on to large enterprises looking at delivering great experiences to customers in-tern.
Typically complex, running large sophisticated website and digital experiences. Central to it is view of them understanding world has changed and consumers are more mobile, social, connected. To respond on their terms, you need to have systems that really knows them and can communicate consistently across different channels. We followed with pricing. I asked him how his product is priced. Sitecore is priced by size of implementation. Customers we do business with are typically mid-sized firms going up into large global firms.
Typically investing low tens of thousands upwards into millions depending on size of organization. Pricing depends on kind of capability looking to deploy. Central is single connected platform that delivers at the scale that they need. I asked Mark what a limitation to his product is, and this is what he had to say. Sophisticated product. Aimed for mid-size firms than small businesses. Small shops/consumers looking up to spin up quick site or blog, not for those kinds of implementations.
Limitation is it is complex. Sophisticated business oriented marketing tool. Delivers incredible functionality across myriad of channels. If you just wanted a simple blog, Sitecore would be overkill. Finally, I followed with what a best practice for implementing his product is. Start small and grow. There’s a lot of functionality in the platform. Dont’ bite it all off in one go. Roll out low hanging fruit. Find an opportunity to improve conversions in once place.
Then look for other areas to improve digital marketing functionality. (screenshots) Recently went live for Danon who have a brand called Nutricia. Taken approach of adding range of channels/contact to target customer who are expectant and recent mothers. Through effectively having consistent engagement with customers across touchpoints, they’ve seen revenue with triple digit growth as a result of growing and expanding across different channels.
