Broadcom Clarity PPM is a cloud-based, strategic portfolio management software solution that focuses on giving you the tools you need to manage your project. In general, Clarity is suited for large projects that deal with large sums of money; although, it does provide customization users enjoy to manage simpler projects.
Furthermore, Clarity is so robust it tends to work better with projects that will often have more complex aspects to them and require a bit of oversight. Otherwise, as one user stated, it’s “like using the space shuttle to drive across the street.” For Clarity, the cycle begins with strategy and brainstorming. Clarity provides a way to organize your team’s ideas in an Excel-like interface. Although, some users feel like it’s a bit too complex. Once a project is settled on, Clarity’s road maps function will allow you to keep track of your team’s progress by syncing investments, ideas, or projects to Clarity’s system.
With road maps, projects begin as objectives and then are organized into swimlanes. This will also allow you to better engage your team and other executives by giving a visual presentation of the project. After receiving feedback from your team, you can then evaluate their feedback by using Clarity’s lean canvas. Users have stated that they like that the program is flexible enough to allow you to build Scrum, Kanban, and agile frameworks. Ideas given by the team that you decided are to be pursued further can then be viewed in Clarity’s configurable details panel.
Clarity also has the ability to keep track of a project’s financials to make sure the projects are completed on time and under budget. Clarity’s built-in timesheets function allows you to track the time spent on a given project and the amount of money that went towards it. Although helpful, overall, users have stated that even project managers had difficulty managing this aspect of the interface. Their financial module allows you to reconcile actual costs and capitalization.
That way you can make sure your project stays within budget. Finally, Clarity’s reporting module will allow you to generate reports to break down your project and determine how well you were able to match the reality of your project to your original plan financially. Users have felt this is a highlight of the program. You must contact Broadcom directly for product pricing information. It’s a good idea to get multiple quotes before choosing a project management solution.
