I I’m Justin Fraction and if you haven’t seen part one, which offers five must have LMS features, then you can go check it out right here. And to answer your question, Coffee Coffee BuzzBuzzBuzz is my favorite flavor of Ben & Jerry’s. But enough about ice cream! Here are five more essential features that your next LMS software should have.
“Blended Learning” This feature allows for learning accommodations and the flexibility for employees to choose which learning experience works for them based on their location, schedule, and learning style. Some prefer to learn by themselves versus learning with a group that might move at a different learning pace. And Having that option really shows a high level of considerations from employers. “Asynchronous learning” If you want to improve engagement and knowledge retention then this feature is a must have.
It allows learners to complete coursework online without having to rely on in person instructors. Just keep in mind that an effective LMS software organizes its training videos, online reading, and discussion forums to give the best training experience. “Social Learning” Having a sense of community while learning helps those who are struggling feel less alone in their struggles. By adding messaging boards and social learning features, learners can ask and answer questions in a forum setting and interact with their colleagues.
This allows them to teach each other when they need it, while reducing the strain placed on trainers. “Certification and accreditation management” Being able to track your employees performance and skill development is great for both sides. The employee gets to see their growth in real time, while the employer can report on their learning progress, showing an immediate success of their training efforts. This feature can also increase government compliance by consolidating your learners’ completed and pending certifications in a single exportable spreadsheet.
And who doesn’t love a spreadsheet? Finally, “Gamification” LMS gamification features like leaderboards, badges, and levels can turn a dry learning experience into a fun one. And i’m not just saying that cause i get board easily. Research shows that, gamification improves employee productivity by 90% and makes companies seven times more profitable than those that don't use it, according to 2023 research from Zippia. While game elements may not make the subject more interesting, they can help improve knowledge retention, completion rates, and overall engagement when implemented well.
