Zip Recruiter and Indeed are two of the most popular websites for job seekers, but how does the experience compare for employers seeking candidates? In this video, we'll explore the similarities and differences between these two platforms, looking at what they are, the features they offer, and how they're priced. Click the link in the description below to get started. While Zip Recruiter is a job search site, it goes beyond being a place for employers to only post openings. When you post a new job opening on Zip Recruiter, the site syndicates your post across other job board websites. Once you post an open position, candidates can apply through Zip Recruiter, where you can then review their resumes and profile information through an employer portal. Indeed offers powerful features to help you find the right person for the job, making it a sort of job board/ATS hybrid.

Just like other job search sites, Indeed lets you post job openings for free, but Indeed also lets you promote openings to help you stand out. Additionally, Indeed offers an AI-powered recruitment platform for tech jobs, traditional recruitment services, skills assessment tests for applicants, and an interview scheduling tool. Both Zip Recruiter and Indeed offer three of the same core features, but beyond that, they look quite different. You can post job openings on Zip Recruiter by filling in slots.

Slots are the number of job postings you're allowed to have running at one time. The number of slots you get depends on your plan, but any job opening you post is distributed to over 100 job boards around the internet. Once you've filled a position, you can swap out that job posting with a new one in the same slot. Indeed works more like a traditional job board site when it comes to posting jobs. Employers can make an account and start posting jobs for free, with the option to promote posts as targeted ads.

You can also create a presence with company pages, which features basic information about your company and gives job seekers the ability to leave reviews. In Zip Recruiter, you can use the candidate dashboard to review resumes, applications, and answers to pre-screening questions. Zip Recruiter helps applicants find your jobs by alerting relevant job seekers from any of the job boards where Zip Recruiter shares your post. On this feature, Indeed is a little more similar to a traditional ATS solution.

When a candidate applies, you can review the resume, application, assessment test results, and cover letter before scheduling an interview. Indeed doesn't currently syndicate job postings across other job boards, but jobs posted to Indeed typically rank high in Google search results. Both systems let employers add screening questions to job posts, either from a list of pre-written questions or by writing custom questions. In Zip Recruiter, you can designate certain questions as deal breakers, which automatically hides candidates who don't answer according to the employer's criteria.

Indeed lets employers mark questions as preferred or required, and the system will screen out candidates who don't satisfactorily answer required questions. In both systems, you can still view candidates who have been hidden or screened out due to responses on deal breakers and required questions. Zip Recruiter and Indeed handle pricing very differently. Zip Recruiter effectively operates as a software-as-a-service company, offering access to its software in three different tiers.

You can try Zip Recruiter out through a free trial. Indeed's pricing model works a little bit more like a social media website. It's free to create an account and start posting, but you can get more people to see your jobs by promoting them as targeted ads. Additional services from Indeed, such as Indeed Hire and Seen by Indeed, come at an additional price. Seen by Indeed is available in three different tiers. Still not sure if Zip Recruiter or Indeed is right for you?
