Product Quick Facts
ProjectPlace, recently acquired by Planview and founded in 1998, is a project management solution that was one of the earliest entries into the “software as a service” (SaaS) market. Today, the company serves 930,000 registered users, and maintains a near-perfect, 99.97% reliability standard – service interruptions are very rare. In 2012, the company attained ISO 27001 security certification. Because ProjectPlace’s services are cloud-based, information security is especially important. This certification is a reflection of the company’s staff, since dedicated employees who take responsibility for data security are a critical component of that security.
ProjectPlace’s services include project management tools, project planning tools, and project execution tools. These products offer a variety of features. New projects can be initiated quickly by the use of customized project templates. A communications application helps to improve client creativity, collaboration, and commitment. Portfolio and resource management tools help customers to prioritize their projects. A Kanban board is available for team members to drag and drop tasks among workflow columns. Also, ProjectPlace offers other smartphone applications that are compatible with Android and iOS. Customer support is a priority at ProjectPlace, where specialized modules include: training for project members and a separate project manager/administrator course.
In 2013, the company rolled out ProjectPlace Extended, an application directed at large companies. For 2014, it plans to release its ToDo product, which will cater to smaller businesses with less complex project management requirements.
