Dropbox is a content management software system that aims to “keep life organized and work moving—all in one place.” If you’re in the market for a content management solution, you’ll want to consider Dropbox. But if you’re just starting your search, we can help. Visit our website for a list of the top content management options on the market today. Click the annotation in the top right corner of your screen to get started. Dropbox is one of the leading content management platforms available today, and claims to “bring everything—traditional files, cloud content, and web shortcuts—together in one place.” Dropbox is most known for cloud storage and easily clearing up space on individual devices by syncing files with the cloud.

Users can also share specific information with others, whether they’re inside or outside of the organization. And Dropbox includes team collaboration tools to keep users up to date with the rest of their coworkers. Dropbox is priced per user per month, and has three plans available for professional users, all with free trials available. The more advanced plans have more features and more storage available. Dropbox is available on all modern browsers; for download on Mac, Windows, or Linux; and on mobile devices for both Android and iOS.

Dropbox has features centered around storage, sharing, and collaboration. Dropbox’s primary feature is cloud storage. Regardless of the type of file, or folder of files, you’re trying to store, it can be uploaded to Dropbox. This creates a hub for all of users’ online file storage and can be accessed across a variety of devices, including mobile devices. Users can choose to file-sync devices by saving or moving items directly to a Dropbox folder on their desktop or mobile device, thus automatically syncing up information across devices and giving users the opportunity to free up space from their hard drives.

If the worst should come to pass and users’ laptop or mobile devices are damaged or stolen, users can remotely wipe data from the missing device. Another useful feature of Dropbox is the ability to share files, even large files that take up several gigabytes, securely just by sending a link. Shared files and folders can have additional rules on them, allowing specific users to view, share, download, or edit. If something is particularly sensitive, users can password protect certain files or set link expiration dates as necessary.

Dropbox Paper is Dropbox’s task management and team collaboration tool that creates a single place to work on projects and team tasks. A variety of widgets are available to use including notes, images, to-do lists, task assignments, and even animated GIFs. For shared paper documents, specific users’ names will show up next to the portions they contributed, allowing for easy follow-up conversations as needed. Dropbox is a well known product, but it has its pros and cons.

Dropbox is praised for the ease of use when sharing content between members on a team. The abilities to access files from any device or to share them outside of the organization when necessary are also appreciated. However, there have been some instances of sync conflicts that result in multiple copies of a document, which can be confusing. Also, some users have complaints about working with the customer support team. It’s a good idea to get multiple quotes before choosing a content management solution.

If you’re interested in Dropbox, you might also want to consider Box, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and Citrix ShareFile. Thanks for watching!
