welcome today we'll be looking at bitcasa a cloud backup and storage solution that allows unlimited storage space this review is brought to you by technology advice and the smart advisor tool which lets you compare 50 cloud backup and storage companies in under 2 minutes so bitcasa is a new class storage provider and they're differentiating themselves by offering unlimited storage for $999 a month and that's a pretty cheap rate especially for truly unlimited amount of storage um and while it doesn't offer traditional dis image based backup it will mirror all the files inside your computer so it's a bit of a tradeoff um but once you make an account you can download software for your desktop or use it on your phone or Android device they have native apps and it essentially is going to act like a shared network drive between all of your devices so you'll have a bitos infinite drive on your desktop which you can see right here um and that's you can drag files into that and they'll appear on the online interface which we have right here in the web browser or they'll appear on your phone on your iPad any device that you have um set up and and the online interface which you can see breaks down your storage um you have the my drive which is everything and then you can also look at your photos music videos or just your plain documents and um then you have an upload so you can upload any files that you want and one of the cool things here is uh this versions is going to open a calendar and um bitcasa keeps multiple versions of your text files and your videos so that um if you make changes then the previous ones are also saved and so this calendar will allow you here you can scroll back the hours so if you made a change um two hours ago and decided that you wanted that previous version of the file you can roll back and see what used to be there and download that previous file which is great um if you're doing group collaboration or any kind of thing where you make a lot of changes and might want a previous version um so the and it's a pretty simple software this is pretty much you know you have your drive here you have the online and then you have the apps on your phone um and so the pros of bitcasa are that it automatically mirrors and monitors files and folders um so you can set it to monitor just your C drive or just your documents folder and every time you make a change or put something new in there bitcasa will automatically in the background upload that to to their cloud storage um the file versioning as I mentioned is helpful for collaboration and they have native mobile apps so you can download that for your iPhone your Android device um and you can put files in there or download them onto your phone the cons um it doesn't do dis image backup and it does so it doesn't fill that more traditional backup role um and it doesn't have a centralized control system uh like some of the Enterprise backup Solutions this is very user Centric um and so everyone's going to have a lot of control over what they put into bitcasa so that might not be the best um if you're trying to just take one dis image of everyone's computer every day if you're in a big company before you make any decisions on cloud storage however we recommend that you go and use the smart advisor tool from technology advice that's going to allow you to compare bitcasa with 49 other cloud back backup and storage companies in under 2 minutes thanks for watching this review of bitcasa
