VIDEO: Fishbowl Inventory 2015 Review

Welcome, today we’ll be looking at Fishbowl, an Inventory Management Software designed for warehouse management. This video is brought to you by TechnologyAdvice. Fishbowl comes in two version, warehouse, and manufacturing. Fishbowl is a Supply Chain Management software designed to integrate seamlessly with Quickbooks.

Its clientele includes businesses of all sizes targeting mainly small to medium sized businesses. We are looking at Fishbowl’s Warehouse version. This robust warehouse management system provides inventory control through the process of receiving inventory, putting it into stock locations, and moving it to production stations, as well as facilitating selling, picking, packing, and shipping. Fishbowl’s warehouse version is designed to rotate through inventory before it becomes old and obsolete.

It allows you to track inventory at multiple locations via serial numbers, lot numbers, revision dates, or expiration dates. It can track truck shipments, multiple warehouses, bins, and other storage facilities. In addition to the inventory management features it can facilitate transfer orders to move inventory between sites. Fishbowl can also integrate with Fedex Ship Manager to allow for easy shipment tracking within Fishbowl. The product interface interacts a lot like other inventory management systems.

It’s laid out in a pretty simple to understand format. When you first open the software you will see the Dashboard. The Dashboard can be customized per computer. This is a nice feature when a business has different departments. Each Dashboard can be customized to better optimize work in each department. There are several ways to navigate with in Fishbowl. First, you can use the left side and click on a tab to select a module in a specific area. You can also go to the top menu and follow a similar practice by clicking the department, and then choosing the module you would like to load.

When you load different modules you will notice that they appear as tabs at the top, just below the menu. You can quickly jump from module to module without having to locate it in the menu system. Price Fishbowl is available for a medium price point, and it is less expensive than other Inventory management solutions. It’s especially helpful if a business already uses Quickbooks for other areas of business. One limitation that we discovered while reviewing fishbowl is that a server is required to operate the platform.

It has to be running for any user to operate the client. This could be a limitation for smaller business who may not have the budget for a server. Summary In summary, Fishbowl helps businesses: Process orders and track orders from sale to delivery Monitor their inventory in multiple locations tracks the rotation inventory to ensure it doesn’t become outdated Fishbowl provides many of the features that are otherwise only found in much higher-priced systems.
