About Cerner MDS Intelligence
Cerner Corporation develops software and services for the healthcare industry. Cerner’s solutions are used in over 18,000 facilities worldwide.
Cerner’s MDS Intelligence is a comprehensive system for tracking and interpreting the Minimum Data Set at long-term care facilities. MDS Intelligence directly integrates with point-of-care documentation from Cerner’s CareTracker, PowerChart LTC, or systems from other vendors to improve both the accuracy and speed of MDS completion. When using a point-of-care documentation system in concert with MDS Intelligence, between 20-50 percent of the necessary data will already be populated, saving time and improving accuracy. Furthermore, MDS Intelligence tracks ADL coding and therapy so care managers can capture reimbursement opportunities, monitor compliance, and be notified when any resident is nearing an end-split or the facility is at risk of an F-tag. Since MDS Intelligence is designed for team-based care, it includes strong collaborative features and multiple copies of the same chart or MDS can be opened at once; the system updates in real-time, and built-in automation features check each field to ensure no conflicting information is saved.
Ozark Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Clinton AR, is a long-term care facility that treats residents as if they were family. They were tired of inefficient paper forms used by CNAs to document ADLs, vitals, and other tasks; the forms not only took too long to complete, but also failed to provide management with a clear picture of resident needs or the care actually delivered, resulting in decreased reimbursement rates and long hours spent reconciling data by the MDS coordinator. Following the implementation of MDS Intelligence and CareTracker, Ozark’s documentation compliance rate increased to 99 percent, CNAs were happier from being able to document as they went, and time spent investigating inaccurate data is now spent improving resident care.
