We’re pleased to announced the four focus areas for our upcoming event, the TechnologyAdvice Sweet Summer Webinar Series: EHR/EMR 101 – The Ultimate Buyer’s Guide, presented 11:30AM CDT on June 4, 2014.
During our webinar, I’ll be discussing the TechnologyAdvice EHR-EMR Guide. This guide covers electronic health records (EHR), electronic medical records (EMR), Meaningful Use (MU), and healthcare IT (HIT) in general. All webinar registrants will receive a complimentary PDF copy of the guide via email following the conclusion of the webinar.
Arguably the most important —and confusing— aspect of buying an EHR, ‘Meaningful Use’ can mean several things. Most frequently it refers to a set of objectives that providers must meet in order to qualify for incentive payments and avoid reimbursement penalties. We’ll tell you all about these incentives and penalties, and the importance of ‘Meaningful Use’ to your practice.
As part of the requirements of Meaningful Use Stage 2, providers attesting in 2014 must demonstrate engagement with their patients via an online patient portal. We’ll discuss how to meet these requirements, and how proper use of patient portals can increase both profitability and patient satisfaction.
Interoperability and HIEs
Another 2014 Meaningful Use Stage 2 requirement is minimum interoperability between EHR/EMR systems. We’ll explain the different levels of interoperability, and discuss whether or not true interoperability is possible yet. We’ll also cover what options providers have if their software won’t meet the information exchange requirement in time for 2014 MU attestation.
The Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014 (PAMA) delayed the implementation of the new ICD-10 code standard until Oct 1, 2015. To some providers, this delay was a blessing. To others, it was a curse. We’ll discuss strategies for coping with the delay, what steps EHR companies are taking, and what you can do now to get ready for the change.
Whether you’re buying your first EHR system, looking to replace your current setup, or just want to hear about the latest news in EHR, Meaningful Use, and healthcare IT, join us Wednesday, June 4 at 11:30AM CDT for our EHR/EMR 101 webinar. I look forward to seeing you.
