About SourceMedical Vision

SourceMedical offers the broadest range of therapy solutions and billing services for outpatient facilities. Specifically it provides revenue cycle management services and outpatient information solutions for rehabilitation clinics, specialty hospitals, and the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).

SourceMedical offers a certified surgery center Electronic Health Record (EHR) solution to assist ASCs and specialty hospitals nationwide, called Vision. The Vision EHR platform can be cloud-hosted, self-hosted, or hosted by a third party vendor. Vision EHR software advances patient care by allowing immediate data entry at the patient’s bedside in order to facilitate an efficient workflow. SourceMedical EHR automatically standardizes processes and centralizes administrative and clinical information to decrease medical errors. It also has the ability to reduce liability by providing alerts when these medical errors do occur.

Surgery Center (SSC) decided even before opening its doors in 2008 that it would use an EHR system because it could offer streamline workflows and improved patient care that paper documentation could not. After researching several vendors, SSC chose SourceMedical Vision EHR as their solution. After the software was tailored to meet the practice’s specific requirements, SSC have instant access to patient records including prescription information, medical history, and billing information. The administrative staff has especially noticed the benefits to adding this EHR system as it hosts an allergy-checking feature that immediately alerts the staff to possible drug interactions.

What do you like best about this product?

User friendly, multi functional, when software is working properly.

What could be improved about this product?

Every time there is an update it routinely affects another module in the software. Normally the software is distributed with a “known issues” list and when it affects a module that was working before the upgrade, it becomes another set of problems trying to get the new issue resolved.
Reporting an issue to be resolved is like a “Black Hole”. You get a ticket and you will get a call to follow up on the ticket and then the problem normally has to be escalated to a Tier 2 or Tier 3 specialist or to development. We have had issues and recommendations that have never been resolved. We have been working on a latency issue for several years now. Checking with other users of the software and they have/are experiencing the same performance issues too.

What was your main concern about buying this software?

We have been using this software sine 2006. At the time we committed to this software Source Medical
did not own it. The company we dealt with was very interested in improving the product from end users perspective. We have routinely sent in enhancement request with little or no results.

What business problems are you solving? What benefits have you seen?

We were looking to upgraded software with more functionality. Scheduling, financial reporting, chart management, coding and claims submission.
