About MYOB Advanced

MYOB stands for “Mind Your Own Business”. To that end, MYOB makes business software that primarily serves Australia and New Zealand-based companies. By offering over 50 products geared towards accounting, payroll, point-of-sale, CRM, task management, and more, MYOB’s on-premise and cloud-based solutions help you focus on operations instead of paperwork. 

MYOB Advanced is one of the latest products from the firm. It is a complete, cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) and accounting system that allows companies to build a truly custom environment based on their particular business needs. There are three service levels: MYOB Advanced Standard, Plus, and Enterprise.

MYOB Advanced Standard is designed to help businesses manage financials and inventory. It includes features to help collect and control all financials, GST, and more. It enables robust lead, supplier, distribution, and inventory management across departments and locations. It even enables custom customer pricing and offers a client self-service portal to help further automate and streamline your business.

MYOB Advanced Plus includes all the functionality afforded by the standard addition, but adds a complete customer relationship management (CRM) module, fixed asset management, project-based accounting, multi-company consolidation, and a drag-and-drop editor that allows you to customize any screen within the application. 

MYOB Advanced Enterprise is a holistic solution that contains all the features offered in the previous two editions in addition to more advanced inventory features, customer service contract management, and an Advanced Studio module that helps create custom workflows, screens, and even entire modules to satisfy the unique needs of your business.

What do you like best about this product?

The cloud based aspect is the only single positive point for this software.

What could be improved about this product?

Prevent the constant updates causing every link to break, provide decent MYOB support, an online community forum to resolve common complaints and problems in a prompt manner, provide a manual of basic functions as procedural guide, just provide software that does what it says it will do, …

What was your main concern about buying this software?

Having a system that would link into scan picking inventory system, simplicity of use, accurate reporting, providing up to the minute business status, value for money – not one of these concerns that was promised has been fulfilled satisfactorily!

What business problems are you solving? What benefits have you seen?

There has not been one benefit – the ongoing cost each month has skyrocketed with the necessity to need more licences for staff members to each have their own log in, the continual disruption to our business for days at a time after every “update” none of which solve any problems and all of which cost us exorbitant amounts of money in re-fixing new issues, nobody – not the providers or MYOB themselves can provide satisfactory answers to why glitches continually occur, and we are repeatedly billed to try and fix these problems, some have now been unsolved for over 12 months, the laborious process to simply invoice a customer is beyond belief and overly complicated, the transfer of information from our old MYOB software is still not resolved with numerous issues still in place in the inventory area and also reporting for profitability due to many links not working, stocktake are still not possible a year on and nobody seems able to solve this, …

What do you like best about this product?

There is nothing i like about this product except that it is cloud based and ease for everyone to access. Speaking of accessing, we always get kicked out automatically out of reason. This product has caused us so much problems and took us so long to solve every single problem because it cant handle a such huge business like us. Small business might think about it but to a medium and large company there is no way you can handle it.

What could be improved about this product?

The team of people do not understand the products at all, Kilimanjaro is your supporting team where they cant even provide an efficient solutions. MYOB Advanced shouldnt be more advanced and solving the solutions, that is totally not true. there is so many bugs and problems in this software.

What was your main concern about buying this software?

This software has created nothing but so much problem to our company. This is causing us a lot of time and problems. As you may know that MYOB is supposed to be supporting the whole accounting and processing flow. MYOB does not do that.
